From washing to processing potatoes, water is an integral part of our production process. It even plays a role in the cutting stage. We use water-cooled bladaes that ensure a precise and consistent cut.
That is precisely why we use it responsibly and sustainably.
Using a valuable resource responsibly
Water is not an inexhaustible resource. That is why we consider not only how we use it, but also what happens to it afterwards. Our site is located in a catchment area. This means we have a clear responsibility. We return the water we use in our processes to the environment in a clean and controlled manner. After thorough treatment in accordance with strict standards, the water flows back towards the River Zwalm.
In this way, we ensure that the natural water quality is preserved and the balance of the environment is respected.
The European Water Framework Directive provides an important framework for this, but for us it is above all a logical way of working.
Purification as a continuous improvement process
Water treatment is not an end in itself, but a process that we are constantly improving. We are exploring ways to make it even better, including through additional biological treatment. Step by step, with an eye to the future.
Together with VLAIO, we are investigating how we can further refine our approach and continue to reduce our environmental impact.
